Property exhibitions come in many shapes and sizes, from individual company roadshows travelling from town to town, to huge multi-exhibitor events at the country’s premier venues.
The team at our sister consumer property portal WhatHouse? has seen consumer appetite grow over the past couple of years for exhibitions where they can meet developers and agents face-to-face. It is now launching The WhatHouse? Show, an event offering a mix of UK new-build and re-sale property and overseas homes for sale, which will take place at the Hilton Brighton Metropole over the weekend of 27/28 September 2014.
“We feel the time is right for us to extend the WhatHouse? brand into events,” says show director Andy Grimley. “There has been sustained optimism within the property market and the UK economy as a whole over the past few months some very encouraging figures that indicate that we’re at a better point now than at any time in the past seven years to attract visitors who feel confident to invest their money in property.
“This year, we have already opened up our site to estate agents and introduced a range of monthly regional property papers that reach half-a million households. We’re re-launching the website this summer too, with a view to building on the significant online audience we’ve grown so far in 2014. The WhatHouse? Show is another way to bring a wide array of homebuying and investing options to a receptive audience in an affluent location.
“We’ve chosen Brighton to launch our first show as it’s not only a very diverse city in its own right, it’s also at the heart of a prosperous region with a high proportion of cultured, wealthy and aspirational residents. The ACORN demographic index shows that 70% of those living in and around the city are classed as Affluent Achievers, Living in Rising Prosperity and within Comfortable Communities.”
The show builds on the 30-year heritage of the WhatHouse? brand, already respected for the longest-established and largest UK housebuilding event, the WhatHouse? Awards. Grimley himself has many years of experience in property exhibitions from his time with Homes Overseas and OPP.
He adds: “With a six-figure marketing budget, we’ll be targeting visitors across print, online and radio advertising as well as via our own data on current house-hunters. A co-ordinated PR campaign should also ensure we get as much exposure as possible and maximise the audience.”
The show will feature property in five main sectors – new-build homes for first-time buyers, upsizers and downsizers; re-sale property available via local and national agents; investment opportunities for buy-to-let and holiday homes; retirement and age-exclusive developments; and overseas homes.
There will also be three seminar theatres to provide visitors with useful information on topics relating to the UK and overseas property markets and retirement/investment, including legal and finance issues, providing extra value to visitors who attend the show as well as an opportunity.
A number of companies have already signed up for the event, among the first of which was spicerhaart land and new homes.
Managing director Peter Krelle says: “Spicerhaart land & new homes and the Group’s investment arm, Invest In New, will be exhibiting at the first Whathouse? investor show and exhibition, as I believe the event is the perfect platform to demonstrate the extensive range of services we have to offer everyone from first-time investors to those with extensive portfolios.
“The Hilton Brighton is well positioned for ease of access from both the South East and London and I’m expecting a significant number of visitors.
